Kickstart your self discovery journey
Did you know that we generally feel an urge to change something in our lives as we approach the end of the year?
The sudden realisation of not completing the goals you set in the beginning of the year has suddenly dawned upon you and you’re now determined to change it. Instead of putting this internal pressure to complete what you haven’t, taking the time to self reflect can help you embark on a new journey of self discovery.
11/11 is not only Singles Day, but also a great day to celebrate you. The numbers 1111 can signal a fresh start, embracing new beginnings and new opportunities. Take some time out of your day today and implement these 5 steps to kickstart your self discovery journey.
-
Set new goals for 2025 – Once you’ve listed out the goals you wish to achieve, compare them to the ones you wrote down at the beginning of the year. Ask yourself: Are these goals the same or different? Which goals have you achieved so far? Do any of these goals no longer align with who you are and want to achieve and why?
-
Write a letter to yourself – Write a letter about your experiences this year and everything and anything that has brought joy to your life. You’ll be vibrating in postiive juju with this.
-
Create a self reflection board – Fill this up with all your positive attributes and any imagery that you feel represents your authentic self. Keep adding to this until the end of 2024 to see a visual image of who you are.
-
Journal – Ask yourself this one question “What do I want in my (insert aspect) and why? and apply it to different aspects of your life. These can include, career, personal relationships, health, family and friend etc
-
Meditate (5 – 15 mins) – Once all is done, take a moment to sit in silence and in nature if possible and notice what thoughts and emotions come up for you. Saying thank you to anything you notice that brings you joy and letting go anything that is not serving you.
The more time you take to self reflect helps to increase your self awareness, you start to recognise your own thoughts and emotions and in turn this gives you greater control of your behaviour and allows you to stay connected to what truly makes you happy and living your life in your own way.
Happy Singles Day and don't forget to celebrate you being YOU!
